Don’t eat too many carbs or sugars.
Don’t watch too much Netflix.
Don’t wear too much makeup, but don’t go without any at all.
Don’t be too dependent on people.
The world tells us so many things we have to limit in our life and I am extremely tired of it! I was driving down the road eating a thin mint… (because they are definitely sent from God) and I had all of these thoughts of guilt… with one single thin mint. I thought to myself that I need to cut out this and this from my life in order to be thinner and look better for the world.
I know I am not the only woman that has these thoughts and I am sure not going to lie about it.
But then, the Lord set other thoughts upon my lost in the moment heart. He said first of all… enjoy that delicious thin mint because you are beautiful and girl scout cookies only come once a year. Secondly, the world tells you to limit all of these things, but you can have A TON of Me. A big smile came on my face because I love the fact that it is perfectly okay to be consumed by God! As a matter of fact, being head over heels in love with my Savior fills me up more than any other thing that is IN the world. In this season, I am pursuing a life enveloped by God rather than being overwhelmed by the world.
I write this post as a reminder for myself. On the days that you are feeling ridiculed by society, remember who you are in Christ and how much he loves you. Be consumed with God. Let your thoughts not be of this world, but of Him.
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. – 1 John 2:15-17
