Before coming on the race, I heard a lot of “you’ll probably never’s.”

At training camp they said, “you’ll probably never have to use your water filter.”

When buying a tankini bathing suit, I thought, “I’ll probably never have to use this.”

When talking to people about the race, they said, “you’ll probably never get another opportunity to travel the world like this again in your life.”

But no one ever said, “you’ll probably never fall in love like you will on the race.”

They never told me, “you’ll probably never cry audibly in a taxi while simultaneously laughing about all of the great things that have happened.”

They never mentioned, “you’ll probably never have a harder time saying bye to people you have only known for three weeks.”

They never said, “your heart will break into a million little pieces but still be so joyful because you have been blessed to meet people who live on the other side of the world from you.”

They never They never said that all these things are true—so true that you aren’t sure if it’s real or not, especially after not feeling pretty much anything for a good while. But they are.

So thanks Nepal. Thanks TamiAsia. Thanks Agape Team. You surpassed all the expectations no one ever told me to have.
