After posting my initial “About Me,” I realized that I just started talking about my upcoming race without really explaining, what is the World Race. So this is going to be a kind of World Race 101.

The World Race is a mission program for young adults age 21-35 of the organization Adventures in Missions. Adventures in Missions is interdenominational Christian non-profit that focuses on sending disciples out into the world.

The specific mission trip I will be embarking on is the World Race. As mentioned, this is a mission trip for young adults that travels to 11 different countries in 11 months! If that sounds crazy to you, it’s probably because it is crazy! I like to look at it this way, though: in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, she asks the Hatter if she is crazy, to which he replied, “I’m afraid so, but let me tell you something, the best people usually are.”

So yes, this trip is a little crazy, but in the best way possible. It will not only be an opportunity to grow in God, as I learn to leave the luxuries of my life behind and rely on Him for virtually everything, but it will also be an amazing opportunity to see the world. My route will be traveling to Guatemala, Nicaragua, Romania, Moldova (*recently changed from Estonia and Latvia), Swaziland, Botswana, South Africa, India, Thailand, Cambodia, and Nepal. These are 11 countries on four different continents with vastly different cultures and beliefs!

Some days on the race will be actively ministering within the community we will be staying. Days like this could involve building shelters for widows, teaching in schools, spending time with orphans, and praying with people in need. Other days may be slower and involve market shopping, cooking meals with our country contact, or exploring the community.

As I embark on this trip, it will definitely be challenging and I believe I will learn a lot about the world, both good and bad. So I ask that you keep myself and my squad in your prayers and we go out into the world!

As always, please comment, contact, and get involved! I’d love to hear from you and elaborate more if you are interested in this program/process, etc!
