1 Peter 3:13 "Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good?"

I’m sure all of you have heard the term eager beaver before, but I typically have heard this term concerning business like endeavors. Today I am thinking about how we can be more eager in our faith.

As you know, my team is in search for Christians in Bulgaria wanting to encourage them and even possibly serve alongside with them in the future. For the past two weeks, we have been contacting organizations and churches in hopes that they would like to meet with us and discuss what the Lord is doing in their lives.

We have received an overwhelming amount of responses, excited to meet fellow members of the Body of Christ. They are eager to figure out how we can connect and work together to further the kingdom. It has been so cool to continually meet amazing Christians with such passionate hearts for showing Christ’s love and spreading the gospel.

So how are Christians in America showing eagerness in their faith? I think we can both agree that there are many great examples of eagerness in Christianity, from Passion to Bethel to Breakaway to (fill in the blank). But what if we challenged ourselves even more? What if we made sure to personally and daily choose to have eagerness in our faith? Not simply contentment in our faith, or cruising in our faith, but to have eager passion with our faith!

Speaking for myself, I know that I have already been challenged to be more eager with my faith from the incredible individuals we have come into contact with. Not just to be naturally eager when I am having an awesome moment with God, but to CHOOSE eagerness and passion daily. I think its safe to assume that we are aware of our constant battle of flesh against spirit, so why not choose to set our bars high and intentionally strive for the passion God intends for us?

How cool would it be if we all made this effort? Then if one of us is struggling to have that natural passion, another Christian can come alongside them and recharge their battery.  Let us live out Romans 12:11 and let us “not be slothful in zeal, [but] be fervent in spirit, [and] serve the Lord”.

The people we are meeting have this constant eagerness due to lack of resources and community with fellow Christians. But do we need to lack in resources in order to gain passion for something as amazing as our Savior?

I have no doubt that many of you reading this exceed me in this area and already have daily passion for your faith. But I thought I would go ahead and take a moment in sharing how I am being challenged right now, in hopes that it’s what a few people needed to hear. Let’s eagerly choose God to be our Passion and “live to know Him more!”
