It seems that God often takes doors that should have stayed open and closes them without much reason at all to make you wait a little longer to open door you never expected to stumble into…

Which is exactly what happened to me this week…

About a month ago I started applying for jobs, with the realization that nannying was going to primarily be a summer thing. In the past month I have applied for countless jobs and had an awesome experience getting to interview for a few as well. With no job offers on the table, an unexpected opportunity to lead a three month mission trip through AIM to South Africa, Mozambique, and my personal favorite, Swaziland for 18-22 year olds just fell into my life.

One of the leaders for this team had to drop last minute and when I found out they were still looking I was overcome with a feeling of certainty that there was a reason all these doors for jobs were closing. There were plenty of logistical things that would need to be worked out before I could make a decision and, though I had to make a fairly quick decision, I wanted to make a wise one. So lots of praying and phone calls happened over the next day or two and every.single.thing worked itself out and it was something I could not ignore.

So I accepted the opportunity and will leave this Sunday (yes, I know, so soon) for training at the AIM headquarters in Georgia and will fly out of Atlanta with my new team of 19 Passporters and 2 co-leaders on the 30th. Luckily I have everything I need so it's just a matter of packing, and with the amount of times I had to pack up last year I don't anticipate it taking too much time:) The Lord taught me so much about leading while I was a team leader on the World Race and I really feel like this is an opportunity to solidify and put into practice the gifts I feel have been given to advance the Kingdom of God. I am taking a step of faith that this door would not have reminded wide open and so many other doors would close to get me here.

I will be back to blogging on this site while I'm on the field! And two good things about this trip: 1) it's faaaaar from Ebola (all the countries are in the southern tip and border one another), and 2) I will be back a few days before Thanksgiving, so no holidays will be missed (my family is pretty thrilled about that one)!

The trip will only cost me about $1000 for the 3 months, as they subsidies the cost if you are a leader. The money is not due upfront so I have time to raise it while on the field. If you feel led to give, you can do it three ways:

1. The support tab on the left hands column
2. Send a check to my mom, who has access to my account
3. Through my paypal https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/send-money-online and enter my email [email protected]
