So after a month and Kenya we are now on our 7th month in Iringa, Tanzania! It is hard to believe that we have been out for this long– time is flying! Internet is not the best at all- I spent 30 min this morning trying to send one email… so friends and family try and not expect any calls for some time!
To recap the month of Kenya, we stayed in
Kitale with a pastor and his family. They are amazing hard working people who loved having us! We basically spent most of the week hiking through corn fields visiting families. We went to several schools and were able to share with all the students about who we were and what we are about. We got to spend a lot of time learning how to do things the African way- fetching water, cooking, learning how to make Chapati etc.
The month came and went pretty fast even though the pace of life was really slow.  We had several days to try and recuperate in Nairobi. It was nice and needed because the ride to Tanzania sucked the life out of me! Our first leg, Nairobi to Dar es Salaam, was 18 hours on a very bumpy “road.” There was probably about a half pound of dust one our bodies that seeped in somehow. After a quick shower and a 2 hour nap we left Dar at 5AM and headed to Iringa- another 7 hours of bumpy “road.”
We have settled with Pastor Chacha and his family outside of the city. The set up is very nice. We are sharing a house with team Imago Dei and we are having a good time thus far.  We are helping around his house with some work as well as going to some orphanages and house visits. We have also volunteered to help at a local cafe, Neema, and craft shop that gives work to the disabled and deaf.

I want to thank you all for your prayers and support.  Africa has not been the easiest (Malaria is not that fun!) and we have about 2 months left.  Pray for our ministry as well as our teams- sickness and homesickness are hanging around.  I am still in need of a little bit of support to be fully supported so anything is much appreciated!

Team Umoja! We were delighted to have Maria Krump, from Real Life, spend the entire month with us!
