After several days of ignoring this blog opportunity, here I am. God has a way a teaching us all things we never thought we needed to learn, or things we thought we already knew. For me, this week has been very difficult. Lets be completely honest, as much as I have said I have given up all expectations of this trip, there are a few things that I was expecting.  I was expecting to have a hard time and rough it in most cases. I was expecting to be in “ministry” at all times and do things that were going to change lives.  I was expecting to go and do the things that missionaries do.  Yes, maybe a little big headed but that’s what I thought I had signed up for.  This week has been far from any of those things.

What I do believe that God is showing me, while serving here in New Zealand, is that ministry is everywhere, at all times,  and in EVERYTHING we do.  My friends from Watermark have helped me more than they know this week… the notes and Scripture posted all over my tent have challenged me and made me think. Someone wrote over my door “…as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” There was a purpose in this and that purpose was for me to see God working in Joshua and that I will remember this every morning I wake up. We are called to be STRONG and COURAGEOUS. Joshua 1:16 says “ALL that you have commanded us we will do, and WHEREVER you send us we will go.”

So I’m leaving my glamorous expectations here in Fielding and excited to serve in ALL situations (including cleaning toilets all year) and WHEREVER they may be (even places that resemble home). Thanks to you all for your prayers and continued support, without you these things would not be happening!

Much love,
