Haiti

 Haiti….not
what I expected. We were told that we would be living in tents this next month
and the whole squad would be together. They also told us we would be living on
the beach. Now I have been to a beach in the Dominican Republic and it was not
a nice sandy beach. It was all rocks and sharp coral. So needles
s to say after
this past month of living in a huge house and being blessed with several
bathrooms and showers, a kitchen, fridge etc , I was expecting this month in
Haiti to be the exact opposite. I was expecting to live in my tent near the
rocky beach, cooking over fires and having to squat in the woods to go to the
bathroom. Apparently God had a different plan….

So the
organization we are partnering with this month is called
Missions of Hope International(MOHI). It is an organization started by Renee and Lex. Renee is originally from the states and Lex is from Haiti.
MOHI heads up several ministry projects including teaching and housing several
hundred orphans, building homes, orphanages and the like all around Haiti as
well as just serving as a safe haven, a place for people to be refreshed in the
spirit and to be a hub for many types of ministry in Haiti.

As a
squad we have been
 participating in
several ministries including teaching children, playing and showing Christ’s
love to orphans, as well as help with several

building projects that MOHI is working on. MOHI is also partnering with
a project called
Be Like Brit(BLB). BLB is an organization created by Len and
his Wife

who lost their daughter during the Earthquake in Haiti. Brit was 9
days short ofher 20th birthday when she died. The last text she sent her
parents was
that she wanted to take care of the orphans in Haiti…..so
her parents are finishing her dream for her in Haiti by building an orphanage in the shape of a B to house up to 66 orphans; 33 boys and 33 girls. It has been a great
privilege to help work alongside Len and help make her dream a reality.

                 I’m so
excited how this month has gone so far. God is just so good! He is blessing us
all beyond belief! We are living right on a pebble beach with a breathless
view. I get to wake up and see God paint an amazing sunrise every morning and
see the sun set across the ocean every evening. The waves rock us all to sleep
at night, and the compound we are living in is just amazing. Our

 meals are
cooked for us, we have a huge gazebo to worship, eat and hang out in, several
hammocks to lounge and nap in and amazing contacts who minister to

 us. Once
again I am blown away by God’s goodness and grace he bestows upon us. God is so
good
J that she wanted to take care of the orphans in Haiti…..so her
parents are finishing her dream for her in Haiti. It has been a great privilege

P.S. The compound we are staying in has several dogs that
live in it, 1 puppy and 2 other dogs. Unfortunately the puppy that was here was
hit by a car within the first week of us being here. So a day or two later Lex
and Renee’s Daughter Alexis picked up a new puppy to replace the old one. Since
there was 46 of us living here this month we helped decide on what to call the
puppy. We all put in names and voted and Baily won out. So please meet Baily,
the newest addition to the MOHI Family J
