Now let’s talk about parents!
As alumni, we understand that sometimes the biggest challenge to going on The World Race can be your parents. Sometimes it is hard for them to recognize that you are now adults; sometimes it is hard for them to be okay with you leaving the country for a year and going to all of these developing countries; and sometimes, they just want to know what is going on.
We understand all of this. So we expect you, as adults, to communicate with your parents on anything that deals with The World Race. As a ministry that wants to honor and protect you as adults, we cannot communicate many of the things that involve your personal account with anyone but you. We have provided a document that you can give to your parents to help alleviate any concerns or questions they may have. You can find this document on your Personal Profile Page under the “My Mobilization Info” tab, and then under the “Preparation” tab, scroll down until you see the “Parents” section. Please print that document out and have it available for your parents.
We also recognize that many of you may struggle with parents who may be completely against you going on The World Race, and that you may be struggling with how to honor your parents and their wishes. We recommend that you do your research on what God says about honoring your parents. You can visit biblegateway.com and search for “mother and father” in the Book of Matthew. We also ask that you pray about what God wants you to do and to follow the Lord wherever He leads you.
When you are on the field and your parents have any questions or concerns about you, they can call the emergency line at 678-701-8191.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email us.
