I think I might’ve found Heaven.
Surprisingly, Heaven doesn’t have air conditioning, it’s about 90 degrees and you sweat constantly. Heaven serves you meals of rice, vegetables, and chicken or pork. For dessert, fruit that you’ve never seen before that is still on the sticks from the trees.
Heaven’s streets are not paved with gold. Actually, they are usually not paved well at all. There are potholes and bumps every few feet. The streets are filled with the chaos of motos and tuktuks abiding by no traffic laws.
Heaven smells like the trash that pollutes the river behind your home. The rain in heaven smells like wet dog (but is still meant to be danced in) and comes down daily this time of year.
Heaven is loud with the sound of joy– children giggling, guitars and pianos playing, the sound of feet running up and down the stairs, songs being sung to Jesus at all moments of the day (even at 7 am).
In heaven, ice cream is only a dollar a scoop and in any flavor you can imagine (peanut butter is the best).
The sky in heaven is colored with the prettiest pinks and oranges your eyes have ever seen. And the houses are brightly colored to match the colors of the setting sun.
The angels in heaven are my 5 beautiful sisters that make up my team. I’ve never had sisters and I am so blessed with these girls who build me up and make me better, braid my hair, and pluck my eyebrows.
I've been so blessed by a small taste of heaven this month here in Cambodia. I can't wait to see what else God has in store here.
