Family, friends, brothers, and sisters in Christ,
Those of you who know me know that I have been kind of “stuck” for some time now. I’ve been trying to figure out recently why I feel such a yearning for traveling and for learning and being completely thrown into different cultures I know nothing about. Why I have such a passion for meeting new people and for listening to peoples stories and for sharing in their lives. This is a desire I can’t shake, no matter what.
Romans 1:14-15; “I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.”
Paul is saying that he owes a debt to every lost person on the face of the planet; because he is owned by Christ, he owes Christ to the world. I feel that. I thrive on that. I can’t shake the thought that the very reason I have breath is because I have been saved for a global mission.
As I sit here typing this, the world’s population is 7,185,736,853 and counting. 31% of that number is people who identify as Christians. Likely not all of them are Christ followers, but let’s assume they are, that leaves approximately 5 billion people who, if the gospel is true, are separated from God in their sin and assuming nothing changes, will spend eternity in hell. I’m sorry if that is a little heavy, but it’s a number that plagues my heart. I’ve realized that I have been living too comfortably. Somewhere along the way I missed something about my faith and I replaced it with this comfort. I’ve realized through prayer and so much thought that satisfaction in my life is going to come in radical abandonment to Jesus Christ.
So- My next step; The World Race. It’s a program with the organization Adventures in Missions. It is an 11 month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world. I launch in July 2014 to embark on a journey of complete abandonment. I will be serving with a team and partnering with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and so many other things. Ultimately I hope to just bring Christ’s love to the world.
I’m calling on you, my brothers and sisters in Christ to journey with me in this. Prayerfully consider supporting me; in prayer and even financially If you feel led to give financially, first of all thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Here is how you can do so:
