… is in impossible in Africa.
Friday night prayer starts at 9:30pm. As we made the trek up the muddy hills and around the dark corners, we arrived right on time. Turns on time means early because service didn’t start for another hour. Fatigue started to set in as we waited for people to arrive and the sound system to work. My heavy eyelids got the best of me. They were not closed for long, though. As soon as the traditional east African beat reached my ears, I was alert. I jumped to my feet as the service began.
Dancing has always been something I enjoyed. Dancing in is worship is something that I have missed in my life. I use to dance and sing in praise to my King all the time. Over the last couple of years I have lost touch with that part of me. Being back in east Africa has reminded me of what true joy looks likes.
I recognized the dance moves and a few songs from my time in Kenya. I joined in immediately with the congregation as they danced in the front of the room. There wasn’t a trace of exhaustion in me. I couldn’t have been more awake and alive.
Has your worship become stagnant? Seek out new ways to worship the Lord today. Maybe it is through painting, writing, dancing, or conversing. Go to new levels with the Lord today.
