Hiiiii!!!!
My name is Ashley Varner. I am 21 years old. I love to laugh and have a good time. I love to dance and act silly! I love Jesus and I don't know where I would be without His souvereign hand in my life. I love food! haha! I live in Cumming, Ga. I am a born and raised Georgia girl! I love the south and everything about it! However, the Lord has been revealing to me over the last few years that there is WAY more to life and to this world than I could ever fathom.
This revelation happened in 2009 when I traveled to Kenya for the first time. My heart was changed. My mind was changed. My life was changed. I met people that were radical. I heard stories that were inspiring. I saw needs that were heart-breaking.
Doing nothing was no longer an option.
Once I returned back to the states I knew that there was something missing. I couldn't sit in class, I couldn't just work, I couldn't do anything except daydream about being back in Kenya. So, I went back. Twice.
I have now been to Kenya 3 times. It is just as mesmerizing each time. But, recently, I have been at a crossroads. I didn't want to sit in class because it wasn't enough. I didn't want to work because it wasn't enough. I wanted to be in Kenya but, God said not now.
I knew about the race and have wanted to do it for a while now. But, I didn't know if I was suppose to.. or even if I could. However, God has blessed this decision and I fully believe that this is where He wants me at this point in my life.
Honestly, I am terrified. 11 months is a long time. But…. I am so excited for the journey that the Lord is taking me on! Join me!
