-The Jogging Diaries-
Village in Romania
While we were staying in the village, I must admit that I wasn’t good about jogging everyday… or any day. One afternoon though, Andrea and I felt a boost of energy and decided we should go for a jog.
So we set out, conversing as we walked on the gravel path leading from our house to the poop splattered streets of the Romanian village. I had a lot of things on my mind, and as we reached the road, we continued talking. Time passed by and so did many horse and carriages and cars with crazy drivers. Everytime a car came close we leapt out of the way so we didn’t get run over.
Our talk became deeper and more freeing, and our need to jog lessened. I realized how much I had missed this.  As hard as it is to wake up extra early in the morning, or push myself to go out in the afternoon heat after a long morning of ministry, I need it. And it’s not just the jogging that is so important as much as the time it gives to talk about life. It gives clarity, peace and comfort when all thoughts, feelings and ideas just start flowing from my mind to my mouth and someone is there beside me just listening, empathizing, encouraging.
We never did end up jogging but instead walked an hour and half through the “gorgeous!” (insert Andrea’s voice here.) mountain encircled villages. The bottom of another mountain met up with us, and as much as we wanted to continue, we valued our safety more and made our way home.
