…my daughter in Christ, of course.
This past month I was able to pour into this adorable little girl named Nkesa. She was only about 3 years old and to be honest, she never spoke a word to me. However, I do know that she has my heart right now. God has truly broken my heart for orphans this year. My little Nkesa would dance with me, she would smile at me always and we always had a fun time just being around each other. Yes, she was one of the lucky ones who was able to stay at an orphanage where she was given shelter, food, education when she is older and a great church family. However she is so very young and does not always have the round the clock care like many spoiled 3yr olds in the United States. She developed a strange rash and scab over her head as the month progressed. I was able to love on her, pick her up, pray and interceed for her as much as I possible could, but I am not longer there with her.

I will not be sure if she will get a new outfit next month like she was blessed with this month. Who knows if she will have a great dance partner like me with her in the upcoming weeks. Will she be given the pure, undivided attention that she deserves from her earthly family as much as God so loves and cares for her? I do not know. If it was possible at all, I would have taken her home with me. My team had to check my backpack before we left the orphanage for the last time just to be sure she was not in it! I truly love her with all the love the Lord has given me. I hope and earnestly pray that one day she is with a great family who is able to care for her in ways she has not yet experienced. We are all biblically called to watch over and protect the orphans of this world. Are we all living up to that call?

Do you know the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37? If not, right now is a good time to review that. Because right now…beside you, down the road, across town, over in the next state, in Africa or Asia or even Europe…there are children who do not yet know the love of Christ because they don’t have the best example of Christ’s love before them – the love of a parent. I don’t want to be all “for the price of a cup of coffee a day…” blah blah blah, but you should realize that there are some tangible and practical things you could be doing for orphans in your state and across the world RIGHT NOW. And if you would like to fall madly in love with your very own Nkesa, I am sure God is just waiting for you to ask. And if you have any questions or comments, I would really like to hear them…

Just know that God loves these children here, and He NEEDS us to fight for them. So what are you going to do about it?
