[God is Love]

The other day we got the amazing opporunity to speak on a radio station. It is broadcasted by a local large Baptist Chuch who just loves missionaries. The radio host was named Candy and she was very sweet to us. She spoke some english and we speak some spanish, so we had a great spanglish conversation like usual. Luckily we had our handy dandy translator, Carlos, with us to translate our interview on the radio for all the listeners to understand exactly what we were saying.

The whole team got to squish in this tiny little room and pass around two mics the whole time. We all introduced ourselves and then I was asked to share my experience so far on the World Race. A pretty broad question don’t ya think? So of course I said some cliched answers like “this has been the best experience of my life” and “I cannot wait to see what God has in store for me” and so on, but one of my responses surprised me. I said that I felt so connected in Guatemala and here in El Salvador by the ministry that we get to do, that I feel as though I poured out my heart and left that love in Guatemala, and then I’m doing the same here in El Salvador. I said I plan on doing that in every place I go.

Interesting concept don’t ya think? Just so totally investing and giving all you have in every little thing that you do, that you leave your whole heart and tons of love there. But now I think I know what you might say. “Ashley, if you do that then you won’t have any love left!!” But let me say this, that might be true if your sole source for love was from your own earthly heart. However, my love comes from God. Therefore my love is abundantly flowing through me to reach “the least of these” people around the world.

My teammate Michael puts it this way, “I believe that we as humans only have so much love inside of us. Which is why people ‘fall out of love’ because they only have so much to give. That’s why it’s so important for God to be the center of our lives and our relationships, so that He can refill us and that love will never end.”

I really love the way he phrased that. We have so much love to give because God continually gives it to us. He loves us so much that we cannot fathom or even contain it all. It is literally bursting out of my seams. Just imagine how different we would be, how different Christians would be if we were all so freely giving the love we have so freely received…

Love yourself.

Love your neighbors.

Love God.

LOVE WINS!
