“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God; and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Let me back track a minute.  In mid-April I was searching the internet for mission opportunities because I knew God was calling me into a life of ministry, and I came across the World Race. My first thoughts – this is it, but how am I going to tell my parents!  I have always been the girl who wanted to make my family happy with the decisions I make in my life even if it didn’t make me happy; but my heavenly Father was calling me to do something greater than myself, something extraordinary, something with purpose – so I accepted, thus beginning my World Race journey!

Once my application went through and I had confirmation of my phone interview, I knew it was time to talk to my parents.  On a Tuesday night when I got home from work, I asked God to open the door to be able to tell them about the Race. Not even five minutes later my step – mom told my 4 year old sister to sing me this song she had just learned, and this is how it goes:

"I am a Promise. I am a Possibility. I am a Promise, with a capital P. I am a great, big, bundle of Potentiality. And I am learning, to hear God's voice. And I am trying, to make the right choice. I am a Promise to be, anything God wants me to be. I can go anywhere that He wants me to go. I can be anything that He wants me to be. I can climb the highest mountain, I can cross the widest sea. I'm a great big Promise you see."

I didn’t grow up in church, so I never heard this song before. It was confirmation for me that I am headed in the right direction and this song opened the door for me to tell my parents! Turns out that God had been preparing their hearts.  They said they were just talking about me doing something like this. God totally exceeded my expectations and doubts! – God Always Comes Through

Now that I reached that step, I had to start thinking about fundraising. I work at a jewelry store and make hand crafted pieces of jewelry, so the perfect thing would be if my boss would donate a pendant for a raffle to help raise money. Again, I felt uncomfortable asking him to donate any jewelry, so I asked God to open another door.  While at work my boss asked how I was going to fund my trip. I just gave him a few ideas such as raffles, bake sales etc., and without hesitation he said he would donate a custom pendant with a .10ct diamond.  How great is my God! I didn’t have to ask and the pendant I was thinking about was definitely not to this scale! – God Always Comes Through

During this time I am learning to rely and trust God with every detail.  He is teaching me to follow His lead, to hear His voice and to obey.  I encourage you to keep your eyes and ears open in every area of your life to see what God is asking of you, and in everything you do, PRAY!  – God always comes through
