On October 20th school was canceled due to the flood from the big rain storm the day before. That day we all realized we had lice again so we basically spent our day off resting and treating our hair. On the 21st the flooding had mostly gone down so school and ministry was back in session. The English teacher was still gone so our classes were mostly math that day. They did worksheets on counting and on the number nineteen. After recess I got to color with the kids in their coloring books. On the 22nd we all packed up our things to go to debrief in Monterrico, Guatemala. It was about a 3hr drive from my house in Antigua. The last 30 minutes of the drive we all got to ride on top of the bus which was super fun. Our hostile was was right on the beach. It was nice to see the rest of our squad and catch up with them. On session the first night we got to hear updates on the other teams ministry in Guatemala. Debrief was full of sessions, one on ones, and team debriefings. While we had lots of meetings and teachings we also got to enjoy the heat and the black sand beaches. Some of the leaders and teams got changed at the end of debrief but my team remained unchanged. The last night of debrief a woman asked us to pray over her house for her husband was very sick and could not move and she had a lot of back and shoulder pains. After our group prayed over them the lump in the woman’s side went away and the man could move his hand and arm for the first time in what he said was a couple years. We packed up and left debrief on the morning of the 27th. When we got home to our house in Antigua Luis told us we did not have ministry on the 28th or 29th due to the British volunteers still being there. They filled in our spots while we were gone at debrief. On the 30th I woke up with the flu so I could not go teach at the school and see my kids. On the 30th Luis had a fundraiser for his youth groups mission trip to Nicaragua. Most of the people at my house went to help with that for most of the night. On Saturday I was still sick with a flu and fever so I was in bed for most of the day. On the first I got out of bed to go to the kite festival for Dia de los Muertos. There was flowers all over a cemetery with 40 foot kites made of tissue paper and it was really cool to see all the colors. Today since I was still sick they took me to the doctor and I rested all day.
