On October 6th I went to the orphanage to teach my Kindergarten class. In English class the kids are learning the numbers 1 through 10, fruits, vegetables, verbs, and seasons. I also help teach the classes that are in Spanish such as grammar and math. On Wednesday the 7th I got sick at the school during english class so I had to walk back home when they went to chapel. I stayed home sick with the flu the 7th and 8th not being able to get out of bed. On Friday the 9th we all got up really early to go out and help with the relief effort for the mud slide victims. No one was aloud at the actual catastrophe sight but we worked in the relief center a half mile from the site. We worked sorting and putting together food, clothes and other necessities for those effected. Also a group of us prayed over some of the people at the morgue who were waiting for their missing family memberso bodies to be found and be confirmed dead. Some had been waiting there for five days and others lost their whole family’s in the mud slide. When we got home that night we had decipleship class at our house for the local youth. We taught in 2 Timothy. On Saturday the 10th we put on an event  in the local community for all the kids. We played soccer, sang songs, hung out with them and gave out food/drinks. We used this to reach the kids in the community and invite them to our VBS that goes from October 19-November 19th. On the 11th we taught Sunday school for two of the church services. They are study it here parables in Matthew. On Monday I was able to be in the classroom again. This week class’s were a little different because the English teacher was gone. We had a lot ofor math and grammar worksheets to go over with them as well as they stated doing worksheets tracing/spelling their middle names. After schoold when I went into town I sprained my ankle tripping over a curb. The next day at school I filed and graded a lot of paper work. After lunch we celebrated one of the boys birthdays in my class who turned 5. We had cake and a piñata. The kids had a lot of fun. On Wednesdays at the school we have chapel. It is a little different then I am used to do to it being a Catholic school but it is fun to see the kids worshiping and singing songs to Jesus. On Thursday we surprised the guys by giving them the house till late at night to have an all guys day after ministry. We left them with pizza, ice cream, and brownies. Us girls went out with Jaime(a lady that does bible study with us on Tuesday and Thursday nights). We had crepes and gelato in town. On Friday it was the last day of high school so we all had to help at the event. It was an all school rally at the park. I was asigned being a judge and helper at one of the games. We also had decipleship group for the youth that night at our house. On Saturday we went on an adventure. We left at 6am to hike the volcano Pacaya. I rode a horse up it cause of my sprained ankle but it was still a lot of fun. At the top we roasted marshmallows in the hot lava rocks. At 2 that day we all went to the baptism ceremony for Rafa and his wife. Kaiden, Taylor, Thomas, and me got baptized as well. Then later that night we went to the paper lantern ceremony in town for Antiguas anniversary. Yesterday we taught Sunday school at two of the services this week’s lesson was on the parable of the 10 virgins. That night we made our lesson plans for the VBS that was starting the next day. There is going to be 5 classes at the VBS cooking, soccer, english, music, and dance. We are also teaching bible lessons to them in the mornings wheen we start. Today when we woke up it was raining really hard and started flooding so Vacation Bible School did not happen. The four of us that work at the orphanage walked to the school. Even though none of the kids came to school we helped the teachers do prep work, grading, filing, and organize papers all day. The other groupsurrounding did construction on the widow’s house, taught english morals and decipleship in schools, as well as give the final exams.
