On Thursday and Friday of last week my ministry assignment was to help create brochures and marketing ideas for some of our upcoming events and programs of the ministry we are working with. We worked on the information and flyers for the bible college, English classes, vacation bible school, and other youth events. Over this past week many of us have gotten sick me being one of them. I was home most of the weekend resting to try and get rid of my bronchitis. On Monday, I started antibiotics and I am starting to feel better. Pray for my team as many are still getting over their illnesses as well. This last Sunday, my team brought Frances’ family cookies. He attends our bible studies and both of his parents have been sick for a while now. He works in construction to help provide for his family for there are 20 people living in his house. I wasn’t able to go with them due to me being sick but they told me all about it and i was happy to help with baking the cookies. On Monday Luis’ wife took me and Will to the outdoor market to show us how to barter and get good quality fruits vegetables and meats. On Tuesday, of this week i started my new ministry assignment which i am absolutely in love with. Twogirls on my team and I get the opportunity to work in a Catholic orphanage. Half of it is an orphanage for kids with cerebral palsy and the other half is a primary school. I get to work in a kindergarten classroom. I stay there the whole school day helping with English class, crafts, math, and grammar. I also get to help the teacher out by cleaning, prepping crafts, putting together their homework, taking them to the bathroom, and much more. I have only been in that classroom for three days now but those kids have already stole my heart. No one at the school not even the teachers speak English so it has been a little bit of a challenge. I am getting the hang of it and thankfully know enough to get by from 2 years of Spanish class. I am excited to get to come back and work with these kids five days of weeks now. The rest of my group this week has been teaching english class, teaching about drugs awareness in different schools and doing construction on the second story of a widows house who has nine kids while the plaster at the other construction site dries. Tomorrow night we are leading another bible study at our house for the local youth in the community.
