A revolutionary is defined as someone who causes a complete or dramatic change.
Two weeks ago, my pastor spoke about Christ’s revolution and what it meant to be a revolutionary. One of the main points of the message was that Christ’s revolution was selfless, it was compassionate and it was supernatural. As a Christian, I wan to be a revolutionary for God; I aspire to be like Christ was when He walked this Earth.
But, then it hit me like a ton of brick and it kind of hurt a little bit too. I realized that I am lazy at times, I like my comfort, and I definitely do not like to be vulnerable. All of these descriptions are nothing like Christ’s revolution. Romans 12:2 says,
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect”
The world teaches us to be selfish and to be comfortable and to do everything the fastest and easiest way possible. By doing this though, we are letting all the opportunities that God has for us just slip by unnoticed. We absolutely cannot conform to being comfortable and finding the easy way out while also being a revolutionary. The two do not go together.
The truth is that in order to step into the specific calling that God has for you, you have to live an UNCOMFORTABLE life. It never has been said that being a Christian and doing what God has planned for you was going to be effortless. It takes work.
Life change does not happen in our comfort zone. You have probably heard that a million times, but it is true. It takes uncomfortable moments for God to shape and define us into who we are meant to be. We have to be dependent on Christ so that when we are weak, He is strong. This is when we get the front row seat to see God change us and to see God use us as His vessel of love and hope. It is having the “less of me, more of God” mentality.
Luke 9:23 “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me”
We have to wake up everyday and choose to be uncomfortable; to pick up our cross and follow him. At the end of the day, if I have left my cross behind, how is God going to be able to use me as a vessel? It takes stepping out in faith and trusting God to provide in every circumstance. It takes being vulnerable.
How will you be a revolutionary?
How will you step into what God has planned for you?
It means getting uncomfortable and having the heart of a servant to be selfless and compassionate. It means leaning into what the Holy Spirit is saying and obeying even when it is hard and extremely uncomfortable. We were not meant to just make it to the end. We are meant to live. God wants to fulfill the desires of our heart, but we have to be willing to step out in radical faith so that God can show us that He has something better than what we ever could imagine or long for. Our time here on earth is beyond short compared to eternity in Heaven. So, what are you going to do in that time? Are you going to stay comfortable and always ask “what if” or will you listen to what God is telling you and receive God’s strength?
My prayer is that you realize how much God loves you and wants to take you on a journey that is unlike any other. He wants to fulfill all of the desires of your heart and wants you to live a life in the fullness of His love. He has plans for you that are far greater than anything you can imagine. So, Are you ready?
