The Gator Nation
In light of our recent national title (which really isn’t too big of a deal for us Gators anymore these days) I thought it would be appropriate to follow up on a blog I wrote in Central America. I had written that one of my stupid world race goals was to find a Gator fan in every country. Thus proving the audacious statement claimed by the university of Florida that…”The University of Florida is in Gainesville, but the Gator Nation is everywhere.
So here’s the tally…I have found a Gator fan in every single of the following countries:
Mexico
Guatemala
Honduras
El Salvador
Nicaragua
Taiwan
Cambodia
Thailand
Mozambique
South Africa
England
United Arab Emirates
Qatar
Beyond the World Race on previous travels I have meet Gator fans in
Germany
Ireland
France
Italy
Austria
Switzerland
Spain
Canada
Now it have to regretfully report that I never meet a fan in the country of Vietnam. However, I still have full faith that somewhere in this great world a there’s at least one Vietnamese friend whose allegiance is to my alma mater. And my prayer is that by the end of the race Jesus would allow me the high honor of meeting this fine fella.
All thy loyal sons and daughters, a joyous song shall raise.
Where palm and pine are blowing, where southern seas as flowing,
Shine forth thy noble gothic walls, they noble vine clad halls!
‘Neath the orange and blue victorious, our love shall never fail,
There’s no other name so glorious, all hail, FLORIDA HAIL!
