Now that I have legitimately scared all of you, I feel the need to post a lighter blog.

Even though Sunday night was a little rough, our team got to make a traditional North American dish for our ENTIRE host family (totaling to 20 people including the 6 of us). We made spaghetti and garlic bread. We were going to make chocolate chip cookies too but because North American dishes are A LOT larger than Ecuadorian dishes, we felt the need to hold off on dessert.

The entire family included, our Ecuadorian mother, Vanessa, her two daughters, Karen and Yadita (her husband couldn’t make it because he was working) the pastor and his wife, all 5 of their kids (which was also cool because Miguel usually does not want to have anything to do with us or the entire family, at least in the church) and of course Matte and Paula were there too. It was hilarious to watch Yadita eat the spaghetti. She would take the smallest bite possible and then chase it down with some Fanta. When we noticed this, we tried telling her she did not have to eat it if she didn’t like it. But, being the sweet girl she is, she still tried to choke it down until Vanessa told her she did not have to eat anymore.

I believe everyone else enjoyed the meal. At least, they put on a great act if they did not. It was nice making a meal for all of them since Vanessa always makes all of our meals. It was also nice being around the whole family and being able to laugh most of the night even though we could only make out a few sentences here and there. Mayra and I even got to dance together for a little while. 🙂
