puns
I love puns.
And I think God does too, because he’s been rather pun-ny lately.
Currently, I’m sitting in Coleraine, Ireland in a quaint
little coffee shop. I’m praying
like mad for a decent internet connection and watching soft, steady rain drops
hit the window in front of me.
Get it? we’re in Coleraine and it’s raining. Bah
ha. It rains a lot here. Pretty much all of the time. I’ve been very thankful for my REI rain
jacket these days.
My team, goodness. gracious. has joined with JOHOLO,
Beautiful Feet, and Petra for two weeks of ministry in northern Ireland. We are working with Causeway Coast
Vineyard Church. Overall, the ministry has been great so far. We are just now starting to really get
a feel for what it is. We are
participating in everything from VBS to cleaning toilets around town to singing
at local nursing homes. It’s been
a blessing to be here with some of the K Squad, although Kingdom Unity and
Benkadi are being missed terribly.
Before heading north, all of the August ’09 racers were
together for Launch training in Dublin.
It was a great time of getting re-acquainted with each other and
beginning to get a feel for what these next 11 months are going to look
like. If the next year images
these past eight days whatsoever I’ll be in for quite the wild ride, folks.

communion
at dinner last night we really wanted to take
communion. But, we didn’t have any
wine or grape juice to represent the blood. So, there we were; 30 crazies sitting around one big table
in Ireland just wishing for some heavenly provision. Then, David says, “well, if Jesus were here He would just
turn water into wine.” True
story. Now, normally I never would
have given that a second thought.
But, I’m not living in ‘normal’ anymore.
So we laid hands on a glass of water and prayed for God to
turn it into wine.
And then we took communion. We broke scones [free ones, even] and passed around a glass
of water. We took communion as a
squad, as a family. And we decided
that from now on we are going to take communion with water, praying and
believing for miracles. Because we can, and because we should.
internet
Ireland is a very well developed country and there are a lot
of things here that are very similar to the states in terms of luxuries. However, internet does not seem to be
one of those things. We have found
one, yes, just one coffee shop with free internet. The problem is that when 30 people crowd in it generally
crashes. We found a McDonalds that
is only about a 15 minute walk away but we have yet to try it out. So, I prayed for wireless internet and
yesterday Tres figured out how to make his computer into a hub for all of us to
access internet. and now I’m a
happy camper. [which would be
pun-ny if we were still tenting in Dublin.]
update
my team will be here in Coleraine until September 1st
when we will drive back to Dublin and meet up with our squad. From there we will fly to Romania. I’m not sure what we will be doing as
far as ministry yet, but we’re hoping to maybe be working with the
gypsies. I’ll be sure to keep you
updated with our ministry as I know anything.
Love and thanks to each of you from Ireland!
