I was called to the Mission Field?”….I think…aren’t we all called to the
mission field? Whether it be in our hometown or overseas, as children
of God our lives are a mission field.
Yet, I believe my calling for the international field began with my
thirst for adventure and my desire to travel. My junior year in college
I studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain for a semester. Although I went
with my secular university and not a Christian organization, living in
Spain for those 3 1/2 months was my mission field. I first applied for
the program, excited at the thought that it would be my first time
outside of the United States. God had more in mind. I went there ready
to experience a new culture, but also knowing God divinely placed me
there to be a witness to my classmates.

about 2 1/2 weeks later I was on a plane to Rio Viejo, Honduras where
for four months, I taught first year English to the 7th grade class at
the missionary school, Instituto El Rey (The King’s Institute). When I
first arrived in Honduras, the initial culture shock made me question
if I was even supposed to be there. However, during that first week God
revealed that I was exactly where He wanted me to be. Any nervousness I
had was completely erased, and I was overjoyed to do God’s work! My

places, God has placed a true yearning upon my heart for those we will
encounter during our travels. I believe that God has not only placed
this desire to travel in my heart, but also to be a servant to others.
I know that wherever I go, whatever my mission field is, I know its not
about me, but the work of God through me. Oh to be used by God…mmmm
exciting!
Send me Oh Lord…..I’ll go!
