I hope this letter finds you well. I am thankful for this opportunity to share what’s been going on in my life lately. This has truly been a year of growth and seeing God’s hand move over my life. God has been using me and teaching me in many ways not the least of which has been a call toward missions. I believe God has given me a strong desire to travel to see new things and experience new cultures. So naturally, I was excited when I found out about an opportunity to join Adventures In Missions (AIM) in their World Race program. I applied and have now been accepted! I plan to leave January 1, 2009.
The World Race program (www.theworldrace.org) is an eleven-month missionary opportunity, consisting of teams racing around the world, sharing the love of Jesus Christ as they go.
This is an amazing program geared toward discipling this generation to really live and walk out the way Christ has called us to. During the World Race, I will join local partners in each country to help serve with them in their ministry. These ministries could include rebuilding communities, working in orphanages, church planting, etc. I will also be trained and discipled in various areas of ministry and missions.
Not only am I writing to inform you what I am up to, but I would also like to invite you to take this journey with me. I will be regularly posting on my blog (ashleyharris.theworldrace.org) so you can keep track of what I am doing and my progress leading up to and during the race.
I thank God for this opportunity that is before me and trust He will meet my needs. Ultimately, my prayer is that He will do this through you. I would be honored if you would partner prayerfully and financially with me in this ministry. I am specifically asking for ten people who will commit to pray for me each day until I return. Also, I must raise $13,800.00 for the year that goes directly to AIM. This will cover all of my expenses while on the field including: airfare, lodging, land and sea travel, as well as food. I can reach this goal through one time gifts, as well as specifically if fifty people give $25 per month for an eleven month period with a start and end date of your choosing (however, the sooner you start the better! :).
I am so excited to see how God will change and use me through this opportunity. I ask that you will prayerfully consider being a part of my ministry. I hope to not only be a blessing to those I serve, but also to you. Thank you so much and be blessed!
