This is Part 2 of the story of how God has called me to the World Race. If you haven’t had the chance to read Part 1 quite yet, just mosey on over here to get filled in on all of the details.

I believe that every calling begins with a dream. A little, shimmering seed planted deep in our hearts by our Father to grow and be harvested at just the right time. Papa intentionally called me to the World Race last October, but the desire to “Go!” has been building for 25 years.

When I was a little girl, I dreamed of backpacking around the world. (It’s almost ironic now; I guess dreams do come true.) I grew up with an insatiable desire to see every inch of the world. With parents that have lived in and traveled to countless countries, I got it honest. But I want more than to just see all of the sights; I long to experience everything.

I long to see the sun rise over the Pacific.

I long to feel the sun shine on my shoulders and freckle my face in Africa.

I long to feel raindrops shower me while I dance in a monsoon in Asia.

I long to sing with children in a language that is not my own.

I long to cry with the broken hearted.

I long to touch those people have called “the Untouchables.”

I long to braid the greying hair of a beautiful, widowed woman.

I long to feel the dew dripping onto my feet from tall grasses in a land I’ve never known.

I long to see colors, take in tastes, breath in scents, and feel textures that have been completely unknown to me.

I long to hear stories, see miracles, pray for healing and watch it happen beneath my hands.

You see, when I am experiencing the world, it’s beautiful gifts and it’s stunning people and letting the glory of it all overwhelm me and calm me all at once, is when I feel the nearest to Papa. His creation brings me nearer. His joy I hear in a stranger’s laughter makes me smile. His tears I see in a broken heart make me cry.

On this Race, I want to feel God. I want to be filled with God. And I want all of that feeling and filling to overflow and bring joy, freedom, mercy, goodness, favor, blessing and love to anyone and everyone in the vicinity.
