It’s Christmas Momma, and I know I’m not home, but I want you to know how much I love you so. And as you wake up this morning, and go about your day, know I’m thinking about you and miss you in every way. I’m thankful for the joy that you’re finding in this time and the tears that are probably coming as you read this rhyme. I’m thankful for the woman you’ve raised me to be and the ways you’ve encouraged me when fear is all I could see. I’m thankful you love daddy and treat him well, and to me what a Godly model of marriage that time will serve to tell. I’m thankful God gave you “acts of service” as a gift and that you often give those in need a lift. I’m thankful you’re sentimental, even when it embarrasses me, because I know it’s from your heart and it’s your love you want me to see. I’m thankful for your job and the ways you provide for my needs, and even when the money tree is dry, I’ll pray Jesus sends you more seeds ;] I’m thankful you’re a fun and cool mom, and that all my friends think you’re the bomb.

I’m thankful you taught me to love Jesus with all my heart, and you that sent me to college where my walk with the Lord really began to start. And because of that I’m here, but without your support, I would be nowhere near. I’m thankful that I can serve Jesus with all that I am, and know my Momma is proud and down with this jam.You said it looks like I’m on survivor and in some ways you’re right, its common for me not to shower and have beans and rice every night.

I’m thankful you gave me a sister named Boom, and that you taught us discipline by sending us to our rooms. And even when we fought way too much, you still told us you loved us and hugged us and such. I’m thankful you married daddy with style, so that Amber and I weren’t stuck wearing camo and blaze orange for a while. I’m thankful you still kiss my cheek when we say goodbye, that’s something special that I hope never dies. A strong heart the Lord has given you and a spirit that endures – I pray that you feel peace and comfort while I’m gone throughout this year for sure. Remember all these things when you’re missing me the most, turn your ears towards Heaven and we’ll be real close.

You said you wanted a letter from me today, well here’s what I wanted most to say:

Merry Christmas Momma, I’m thankful for all you do, but most importantly Momma, I’m thankful for you.
