Vietnam was a place full of freedom and adventure
We were finally able to go out on our own , for me that meant coffee shops and street food , but it was a freedom we hadn’t had for 3 months !

We had such a fun month there, we taught English at fishers super kids which is a pretty awesome English school in dannang city . They are always showing the children love and respect . Most schools use corporal punishment and they choose to use reward systems and positive reinforcements .

While we were there we would teach some hour and a half classes which were always lots of fun . The kids are witty and so smart , they would always surprise us with how much English they knew at young ages.

Other days we would go into classes for 15 minutes and play games with the class or sign songs, sometimes we would join into the teachers lessons . It was always interesting to see how different teachers run their classrooms.

Ministry didn’t look at all like the last three months and that was hard some days , sometimes I wondered if we were having any impact , getting to build any relationships and if it was worth it.

That’s when I realized it wasn’t about teaching it was about our presence there and in the city , while we were there we got to know many people at our favourite shops (smoothie place, sandwich ladies ) and of course all the guards we would see while walking around every day .

Most didn’t speak much English but they understood a smile and a wave . It was always rewarding to see someone who looked upset spark up when you smile at them .

We also got to to know the Vietnamese partners at the school pretty well , they did fun stuff with us like an evening beach party dance off thing , which was so much fun . We also had a karaoke night our last evening there I had a blast. They never allowed for a dull moment.

While in Vietnam we saw the dragon bridge blow fire while we were in our cab , we went on the 4th largest Ferris wheel at sunset at Asia park , rode so many rides in one day , snuck up to top of a hotel to swim and finding out the pool is closed and we are way underdressed, and having some of the weirdest bubble tea of my life (cheesy tasting jello anyone ?)

On a personal level , Vietnam gave me the opportunity to process the last 3 months of the race . We haven’t had much free time and this month gave me that. It was hard at times asking God to show me things I need to change or work on , but it was so worth it because It was a month of many mornings spent simply seeking God ,listening to  podcasts, reading, journaling , all these things that I love so much but dont always have the time to do . It was so nice and needed, we definetly didn’t take it for granted.

It surely was an adventure
it was a month where we got the time to catch up on some sleep (which we haven’t done on the race )
we got to experience street food everyday (my favourite thing )
And got to see a different side of “ministry”

Until next time Vietnam
