MERRY
CHRISTMAS!

Dear Family and Friends,

As I write this letter I am just
about to go to bed after a great Christmas day. My squadmates and I continually
asked each other today if we ever thought we’d be spending Christmas in Cambodia. For
some crazy reason, we never imagined ourselves celebrating in a country most of
us knew nothing about.

Yet today was fabulous. Without
the hustle and bustle of the holiday season we were really able to focus on the
real meaning of Christmas – the birth of Jesus. Often I get caught up in buying
this present for that person or dreaming about how much snow we’ll be getting.
I bake and bake until there’s nothing left to make. And sometimes Jesus is the
last thought in my mind.

This year is different though.
Cambodians are mostly Buddhist therefore there is no reason to celebrate. Even
candy canes are hard to come by and when you find one, they are super
expensive. So, Jesus has been first on my mind. We even sand Him happy birthday
at breakfast.

Jesus really is the reason for
the season and I challenge you to remember that. Don’t get so caught up in how
many gifts your purchased or gave away, but rather enjoy time with family and
friends and celebrate all that God has done for you.

I hope you enjoy your Christmas
day and know that I am in Cambodia
thinking of the snow in Michigan
and praying for each of you. Love you all tons and miss ya’ll like crazy! Be
blessed my friends!

Love,

Ashley
