Fundraising update!

This is my first blog post about financial updates and I just want to start by saying THANK YOU! I really appreciate the fact that everyone's support and God's faithfulness in His perfect timing enabled me to go to training camp a couple weeks ago. I am so excited about iSquad and how close we are growing as a family. Training camp was rough, but that is what is needed in order for God to prepare me for what's to come on the race.

So as far as right now, I am at about $5500 for my fundraising.

That means I am only $1000 away from leaving for my World Race on September 5!

While this process has been extremely humbling and a HUGE blessing to me, I am quickly realizing that I underestimated my personal finances. I feel that God wants me to share my situation with my personal finances as well, so here we go!

This is what I have bought so far:
Gear:
Pack – $110
Tent – $55
Sleeping bag – $80
Sleeping pad – $90
Clothes and shoes – $100
Packing cubes and other little gear – $50
Total – $485
 
Travel Insurance: $300
 
I have to say that I’m a pretty good bargain shopper and I feel like I’ve done pretty well with buying my gear! However, I still have a lot to buy and I’ve realized my budgeting for my student loans might not be enough if I’m not able to defer them. I’ve also run into the problem of health insurance. On top of paying $300 for international insurance for the next year, I’ve just learned that my past year of Physical Therapy might not be paid for by my insurance. And if anyone has ever had PT they know how expensive it can be.

With all this being said, I’m still confident that God is going to take care of me. I’m trying really hard not to worry about making my deadline and having enough money for all extra expenses because either way, I know His timing is perfect. However, I would be really sad to have to switch to another route and leave my September iSquad family!
