My brother Andrew got engaged right before we launched on the World Race.

When I left him and my family, I said, “If you schedule the wedding during the Race, I’m not coming home”- the thought process was one- I didn’t have the money to fly home and two- if I went home during the Race, I thought that it would not be completing the Race- it would be ‘cheating’

In the beginning of month 2 -Thailand- I found out that he had scheduled the wedding in May. I was going to be in the middle of the Race- I wasn’t going to go. I was really sad that he scheduled it then- I didn’t think that he would actually schedule it for when I was gone. Boy, was I surprised. I struggled with not going home- it made me sad that I would miss his wedding. I cried, for sure.

In Uganda, God gave me peace that I can go to the wedding. He let me know that everybody’s Race looks different- mine just looks like going to America in the middle of month nine.

I thought, ‘sweet! This is awesome, but it’s not going to happen because of the lack of finances’

                well,

In Rwanda, God gave me peace that I was going to have the money. I was going to go home. I heard God. I believed God. But I didn’t act on it.

I saw the numbers in the bank account. I don’t see how it is going to happen. Maybe I’ll just give God some time to give me some more money…

In Ethiopia- we had absolutely no internet. I couldn’t look up flights. I couldn’t book a ticket even if I wanted to. Yet, I told people that I was going home. Still no money for it.

In Montenegro I booked the ticket. I was super excited. I was super worried about finances, etc. A couple of days after I booked the ticket- I filed my taxes. I got an unexpectedly large chunk of change returned!

I totally get to go home now and have money on the Race!

God told me I’m going home and I am– actually, I already did… it was a surprise, so I was really careful about not saying anything and keeping it secret. 🙂
