I have run into at least one person EACH day this week who does not know what I am doing.
“So, Ashley, how is… ummmmmm….. *puzzled look*… how is your preparation coming?”
… and I realize that quite a few people still don’t know what I am doing.
So, let me let you know.
I am about to leave on what is called The World Race.
No- it’s not a race.
No- it’s not a vacation.
No- it’s not a whim.
The World Race is an 11 month mission trip going to 11 different countries.
Thailand.
Cambodia.
Vietnam.
Botswana.
Swaziland.
South Africa.
Turkey.
Albania.
Honduras.
Nicaragua.
Costa Rica.
I leave in the morning for training camp. A week of intense training before going out into the field. A short month after it- in the beginning of September- I will start my journey.
I will be sleeping in a tent.
I will be sleeping in a sleeping bag on a sleeping pad.
I will be taking showers out of buckets.
I will be telling others about our marvelous Savior.
I will be living very closely with 6 people- maybe 5.
I will cry.
I will laugh.
I will be stretched by God beyond my imagination.
I will be broken.
I will be healed.
I will be serving God.
I am CALLED to this.
I really, really want my friends, family, acquaintances and loved ones to know what I am doing.
This. Is. The. World. Race.
