In Late 2013 I was talking to a good friend and mentor about God disciplining me and training me for the next season. From what I put into my body to prayer time in the mornings. As I talked with my dear friend, she said, “You are entering the YEAR OF THE NINJA.”
The Year of the ninja?
First of all, I am not coordinated, I can barely walk let alone do ninja kicks. If you have ever seen Jess from ‘NEW GIRL’ her character embodies some of what I am in real life, especially the corky uncordinatedness. I guess I could wear a ripped piece of material around my head, have a ‘Karate Kid’ marathon and do some ‘WAX ON- WAX OFF’ moves?
Seriously, ME as a NINJA?
Back in the day, way back in the day, Like 12 century, back in the day, ninja’s were known as shinobi. The functions of the ninja were covert and very rarely found themselves in open combat. Ninja’s had a covert method of waging war which contrasted them from samurai’s who observed strict rules about honor and combat. In laymen’s terms they took care of business and did so inconspicously.
The best thing about the Ninja was that in the 17thish century they became fleeting. In fact they became more of a folklore. People told about the mystery of the ninja. Ninja’s became legendary and by the 20th century ninja’s were walking on water, invisible and could control natural elements. Ninja’s joined the club with unicorns, sasquatch and leprechauns in Mobil, Alabama.
As I enter this season and prepare for THE WORLD RACE, I find myself becoming more of a ninja. Not the assassin or the mythical kind but the kind of ninja that trains to wage war and writes legends. Im not sure what all this year will bring but I know God is training me to do some intense things for HIS kingdom.
“Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.”
-Ephesians 6:13-18 (THE MESSAGE)
I may not be a ninja yet, but a ninja I will become!
