As you may have heard by now, I just recently enrolled to embark on a trip next year called The World Race. So what is the World Race? And what will I be doing on it?
First off, the world race isn't actually a race at all. I might go for runs while on it, and it certainly might feel fast paced and require endurance, but it definitely isn't a competition or contest with rivals trying to beat me to a finish line. Instead, the World Race is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve people in need. In each country (as listed in the picture on the right), we will camp out for a month, partnering with a local point of contact represented by AIM to serve local churches and ministries in the area. Although the exact work we will be doing in each country won't be known until we arrive, our hope is to show love to the people we encounter and make an impact on them and their community toward a better life. Over the course of the year, we can expect to spend time with orphans, widows, women and children who are trapped in human trafficking, the otherwise poor or misfortuned, and locals who want to make a difference. As a Christ-centered group of people, this work won't only involve labor, teaching, and playing with children, but will also include teaching and sharing with people the message of Christ we believe in, and praying for and with them in hope that God will impact their lives.
Although initially making this decision wasn't easy for me, I am determined to make a difference, and am very excited about this opportunity to zealously pour myself out — not in spite of the challenges, but even because of them (more on that in a future post). I am confident God will provide for all my needs, and ultimately, it is my hope that he will do that through generous donations of people like you. Over the next 10 months, I must raise $16,285 to make this journey possible, which covers all of my expenses on the trip, including travel, food, and medical insurance. If you would like to support me, financial donations can be given as a one-time gift or as a monthly donation. Just click here and complete your donation as instructed.
Checks can be made payable to Adventures In Missions and mailed to Adventures in Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470. To ensure the donation will go to my account, please write Arden DeCuir on the memo line of the check.
I’m eager to see what God has in store for my life and the lives of those I connect with in the coming year. I will be posting on this blog somewhat regularly, especially once the trip begins, so be sure to check back to keep up with what I'm doing, or subscribe to receive e-mail notifications when I update the blog. Thank you in advance for any prayers and support, and hope to hear from you!
