Does your day job get you down? Is school work endless and mundane? Is it boring lifeless routine day in and day out? Does it feel like your life is going no where? Do you feel unnoticed by everyone including your cat?
1. Do you believe that God has a specific purpose and destiny for you?
2. Do you know that you’re anointed for that purpose as the son or daughter of the King?
That means….
There is never an insignificant moment in your life. Because you are anointed by God, you leave an anointing on everything you do and every life you touch. Hang in with me for a moment. I didn’t quite get it at first. It was a step-by-step realization for me. It’s a very powerful kingdom concept.
One night in worship I saw myself covered in oil. I thought, “Oh yes, thanks God. I know I’m very anointed for this time and place. You’ve made that clear to me. Thanks for the reminder.” But I wasn’t just covered, I was dripping. I saw oil dripping off my fingers and running all over me. As I recall I was making quite a mess.
The next night one of our coaches, Mike Paschall, shared the idea that there is never an insignificant moment in our lives because we are anointed as inheritors of the kingdom. Our lives are fully anointed by God. Everything we touch, say, and do carries that anointing. The anointing magnifies the power and depth of the action. Good or bad, the outcome or consequence is multiplied.
Something clicked.
I remembered the vision I had the night before. Suddenly I saw myself leaving oily fingerprints all over the place. I was beginning to realize how life-changing and long-lasting my life is. All of a sudden projects, encounters with strangers, and ministry tasks that once seemed insignificant or menial had much more meaning. I had increased hope for conversations and ministry that seemed to go nowhere. We left something ON those people – whether they liked it or not. Whether they knew it or not. Something changed. It was invisible but powerful.
Elvis was a guy we met while walking to the bank in Nicaragua. (It’s a very popular name in Latin America apparently…) He had a broken leg, and we prayed for him. He thanked us, seemed very appreciative, and then asked us for money. We politely said no walked away not thinking much of the encounter. A few days later he sought us out and asked for prayer. Something in him suddenly believed that he could be completely healed through our prayers. He walked in on crutches and walked out without them. An insignificant meeting that seemed fruitless turned into a miracle. We had left something with him that first day.
This month we are working with the same ministry as last month. However, instead of visiting villages, we are helping with organizational and administrative tasks around the church. They are growing so fast that they can’t keep up with what needs done. This morning we prayed before leaving for ministry. Allison is helping to build the Senior Pastor’s lending library. God suddenly reminded me of everything I just described along with the library. He wanted Allison to know that what she was doing will change lives. Yes, she’s making awesome books accessible to the entire church, but because she is part of this project, her anointing is
coming off on it and will touch other people.
It’s an incredible concept when I sit back and think of it. It doesn’t necessarily make sense, but since when has God completely made sense to us? Since when did he promise to make sense and give complete understanding? All I can share is the revelation that I and my teammates have had.
