We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this mission trip.  Here is what I’m expecting…

I have had many thoughts, questions, and expectations running through my head in the past few weeks.  If you ever wanted to peek inside my head (watch out!) then this is a pretty good example of what goes on.

I expect to…
*Be intrigued by all the other cultures we will live in.
*Miss my family very very much.  And my dog, Bubbles.
*Spend some quality time in the bathroom thanks to what I ate recently.

*See the Holy Spirit work in ways I can’t even imagine.

*Hike a volcano or something awesome like that.
*Have my concept of worship totally widened and diversified.

*Never ever be picky about my food again.

*Care much much less about myself.
*To have some (or many) tough tough times and struggles.
*Have a better understanding of the Body of Christ through living in community.

*Be broken.  Have my heart broken.  Over and over again.

I hope to…
*Have a much better understand of my calling to missions.
*Not forget how to play saxophone.  Or teach for that matter.
*Buy some cool earrings.  Earrings are my thing.
*Be filled with compassion.
*Rejoice as we see people come to know Christ.

And is it cliche to say “I expect the unexpected?”  I’m sure it is, but then again, I’ve never been one to worry much about cliche or cool.  However, I expect God to totally blow my mind in ways I can’t even imagine.  Woo!  Let’s go!
