It is easy for me to be so in the moment on the Race that I forget to take pictures, but this last month I tried hard to remember to capture some good moments. The stories a picture can tell are beautiful and I want to make it a point to start sharing these moments with you all. So here is a few of my favorites from the month…

Bessie and Cindy. These two girls were part of the children we fed at the schools, but also their parents came to the church we attended, so we got to pour into them spiritually through our Sunday school lessons. They are beautiful girls with sweet spirits, and loved to pose whenever a camera was around.

Alejandro gave the best high-fives in town. He is a quiet little man, but he would light up when we played with him. He is also a part of one of my most embarrassing moments on the Race, but I´ll save that story for another time. 😉

Before every meal we served, we would pray and the kids would repeat after us. I love that this is a common occurrence. It was always a rather precious moment to hear a chorus of children praying.

Confession: I´ve forgotten her name (but to be fair, I´ve met an exorbitant amount of children these past two months). However, this girl holds a special place in my heart. I don´t know much Spanish, but with her, it didn´t matter. Playing and laughing was our way of communication. And boy, did this girl have an amazing laugh…and everything was funny to her. I miss the giggles and running around the "school" (i.e. a one-room cinder block building, no door nor windows).

Everyone, meet Ever. He is my Honduran big brother (even though he is actually two years younger than me). He is slowly taking over the ministry from the original founders of it, who are his adopted parents. This kid, man. He has a heart of gold, the voice of an angel, and is one of the most fun people I know, even with the heavy burdens he carries on his shoulders. Him and his wife make me want to come back to Honduras one day, if only to visit them. They truly are servants of God and love the Honduran people with a love straight from the Lord. I only wish we had more time with them.
With all of these kids, I didn´t get more than several hours to spend with them, but they leave a permanent impact upon my heart. I pray that I was able to leave a bit of an impact on them; even if it was just showing them that they are more than worthy of some love and attention. 🙂
