I am alive & well in India! I left Texas at 8:00am on the 2nd and arrived in Hyderabad, India at about 5:30am on the 4th. Needless to say, I have experienced true jetlag now. Since we arrived, we have had our “Launch” week, which includes teaching, worship, and bonding within our team and our squad. I have learned A LOT of things, which include but are not limited to:
1. I won’t ever be fully clean again during this year. for reals.
2. Toilet paper must go in the trash can next to the toilet
3. Eating white rice, white bread, and lots of carbs has been messing with my system.
4. Bodily functions take up about 1/3 of our conversations
5. Wearing the same clothes multiple days in a row in perfectly acceptable on the Race
6. I will be really good at bucket showers by the end of this
7. I will probably be stared at no matter where I go
8. I love my team! these are truly my brothers & sisters in Christ.. what a wonderful family
9. No expectations, no expectations, no expectations!
10. Chai tea tastes 1 million times better when it comes from India
11. I am glad I packed a ridiculous amount of underwear.
12. I will be a sleeping on the floor/hard surface NINJA.
13. Ipod in ears= your pretend alone time
14. My malaria meds give me CRAZY CRAZY dreams. ask me if you have starred in one recently!
15. When internet is mentioned among racers, a frenzy occurs
Right now we are spending an “off day” in Hyderabad and then embarking on our journey to Ongole for the rest of the month. We will be working with ICM (India Christian Ministries), probably specifically with Sarah’s Covenant House (sarahscovenanthouse.blogspot.com). This is an orphanage for special needs children, which are the low of the low here in India. We will have the opportunity to show them love and care for them as children of the Lord. I’m so pumped!
