Happy Labor Day!! Sorry for the lack of blogs as of late, but I’ve been running around like crazy trying to get these support letters finished. It’s amazing how many addresses I’ve obtained over the last few months– or that I even know that many people! If you are reading this blog and haven’t received a letter yet, please let me know and I’ll get you one! It’s a pretty spiffy letter if I say so myself; you’ll laugh, cry, and want to throw money at me.
School started up again last Monday, but it was rather anticlimactic for me. I’m only enrolled in ONE (1) class this semester since that’s all that I need to complete my degree. A little ridiculous, but I think this is a good process for me to slowly ease out of college life so I don’t have a harder transition later. I don’t do that well with change (it will only be through the LORD that I’ll be able to do this Race without falling apart!) so the slow easing strategy is best for everyone around me. The class is something about the Physiology & biochemistry of food? Someone told me it was just an easy version of Biochem, so I will probably be able to handle it well. My professor is Chinese but he has this slight Russian undertone…I’m not kidding. Maybe he learned English in Russia? He also says “glucose” like he’s British. Possibly better than my professor who say “choresterol” and pronounced intestine like “tines” of a fork. Weird.
So what am I doing with my time? So far, a LOT of World Race stuff has been taken care of. I am so thankful for the light courseload because there is so much I need to do before January! I sent lots and lots of letters this past month and haven’t received much of a response yet….but I know the Lord will keep providing! I’ve applied to about 50 different jobs around the area and haven’t had ANYONE respond! f.r.u.s.t.r.a.t.i.n.g. But I’m sending in my paperwork to sub for Bryan ISD tomorrow so that’s something I can always count on. Hopefully I’ll be able to handle teaching a class? The thing that really concerns me is having to wear “teacher clothes”. I have such a college student wardrobe….T-shirts and athletic shorts. Gotta grow up sometime!
BIG NEWS: This past Friday, my parents blessed me with probably the best gift they could give me besides giving me life- I got LASIK! Both of my sisters already had the procedure done and had really great results so as a graduation/birthday/we love you gift I got to have this done! I am so thankful because that means no contacts or glasses to keep track of on the Race (or the rest of my life)! I was really nervous before going through with it but the procedure was just slightly uncomfortable- like… “i want to blink and want you to stop touching my eye and what are you even doing to me” kind of uncomfortable– not much pain at all. They gave me a teddy bear to hold and that helped a lot. I wished someone would have been telling me a story though, to keep my mind off things. I almost asked the Doctor if he would but decided he should concentrate on what he’s doing instead. Good decision.
Other news: Went to the Labor Day Sale at REI and got my BACKPACK and TENT!!! I saved about $200 by going during the sale and am planning on going to their Garage Sale on Oct. 2nd for more deals. Visit my registry!

So, I’ve decided that if I happen to blog on a Monday, it shall thus be called “Missing Monday” and will include either something I will or do miss. Just for fun. My ode this week will belong to ICE.
ICE.
i love ice.
the rest of the world doesn’t seem to think so
plus ice is made of water and most of the water we won’t be able to drink.
SO. very. SAD.
I will miss Sonic Ice the most
Then the new Chik-fil-A ice (did you know they have cool ice now?)
Then ice in general.
Here are some pictures of my second favorite state of H2O:

what are some things you’d miss if you were leaving America for a while? How was your labor day? Do you share my love of ice or would you be fine without it?
love.
