I lived my whole life knowing there were problems with the world.  Things like wars, hunger, etc…  It was always an idea for me though.  Just numbers, statistics.  Jan 1, 2012 changed that.  I went to a conference in Atlanta called Passion.  That year they focused on getting the word out about human trafficing.  They presented us with many statistics, but decidedly what stirred my heart was a video they made featuring 3 people rescued from trafficing telling their stories.  No longer was it just statistics and numbers.  Now they had a face, a name.  I remember an intense anger welling up in me.  How could people do things like this?!?

I spread the word with people I knew, but other than that I took a back seat.  Well round 2 came Jan1, 2013.  They again focused on the problem of human trafficing.  This time I was introduced to several orginizations that were fighting this epidemic.  There was hallways of faces and stories to walk through.  They also birthed a short-term program to inform America, and the world, of the problem that existed and what we could do about it: enditmovent.  I honestly would have followed the same course as the last time, but for the last service.  They handed out pictures of people formerly trapped in slavery with their stories on the back.  Now it was in my hands.  I had to do something.

So I joined the enditmovent and started looking up the different orginizations.  I wanted to jump in, lest I take the backseat yet again.  When I found the world race, I was excited.  I had the chance to get involved.  Then I found out we will get to adress the issue seared in my heart.  Finally, something worth doing!  Why then was I hesitant?  Why was I scared?  I see now, that was just the enemy trying to distract me.  To keep me from my calling.  To stall me till i fell back into complacency.  But I had Summer hanging on my mirror, looking at me every day.  Let me tell you about Summer.

Summer was from a neighboring African country before she was trafficked from Johannesburg to Cape Town.  Once in Cape Town, her trafficers gang raped her, forced her to take drugs, and began to forcefully sell Summer's body to paying customers.  Over and over, day after day, Summer was abused, raped, and used.  In desperation, she reached out to a volunteer of a local shelter, who helped Summer escape from her dire situation.

THIS IS WHY I GO
