Each month there seems to be an overall theme and underlining lesson God wants to teach me.
I love how each month there seems to be a song that becomes the soundtrack. I’ll be reading book that seems to push me even further. As well as that, what I’m reading in the Bible seems to literally shake me and wake me up as if all those other things weren’t enough.
God’s likes getting my attention.
This month it’s been about trust.
I know, I thought it was something I already knew, heck why would I be travelling around the world if I didn’t trust in the one I was proclaiming?! Apparently there was (and still is) so much more to learn.
In India, I came to the realisation (through Jesus’ gentle nudging) that I don’t trust God. Well not completely. There’s cracks and holes and areas where I just hold everything myself.
As soon as I acknowledged it, I said to my squad leader Alys, I knew The Lord would give me opportunity to turn to him and practise trusting.
Throughout my time in Nepal, I’ve been reading through the Psalms and wanting to come to a place of being like David and knowing without a shadow of a doubt that God is my refuge and safe place. I was also challenged by reading Brennan Manning’s ‘Ruthless Trust’ which pointed out a lot of areas that I needed to hand over to God.
In our final week here, I got to share with the congregation in church my testimony and also what I’ve been learning about trusting God. Coming into the race I knew there would be a time to preach and it made me a little worried but it was something I know God had been preparing me for all along. I just needed to trust Him.
This month has been so good! Nepal has blessed me so much and I’ve seen the hand of God at work in all the places we have been.
This blog was written while we were in Nepal but I didn’t have the chance to post it until now. Thank you everyone for all of your support and encouraging messages! I love hearing from you all! xo
