Hi,
my name is Anouk
(you pronounce it like “a nuclear bomb” just without the “-lear bomb”) 🙂
I’m 22 years old and live in Frankfurt Germany. I went to University in the US and just graduated in May of 2015. Since then, I moved back to Germany and started working in Germany.
I was born and raised in Frankfurt. My mother is German and my dad is French. So I have had no affiliation with the US. However, when I was a teenager I started to be really interested in the US.
Different cultures has always been something that I found intriguing. One of the main reasons that I went to the US in 2010 was because I wanted to get to know a different culture from the one I grew up in. I enjoy traveling and have been able to with my family since a young age. There is just something about spending time in another country that cannot be compared.
So, through spending time in the US, I was able to meet Jesus. What happened after that, completely changed my life. I still had a passion for seeing the world, but my goal changed. I did not want to go to any country anymore without talking to people about my Savior. I wanted to use every opportunity I had to share my faith and to bring them closer to Jesus.
This is how I came to the World Race. I want to reach people with the Gospel in as many nations and to as many people groups as possible. I’ve heard about the World Race about 2 1/2 years ago and have since been saving my pocket money and pay checks. Since I was too young at the age of 19, all I could do was wait and pray for the Lord to reveal when I needed to go.
Last March (2015), a team from my University and I went to Thailand to do ministry there for 10 days. The time with the Lord that I had there was so sweet and intimate that I knew I wanted even more of that constant dependency on the Lord. I loved serving in Thailand, and when I was back at Liberty University in my dorm I was so thankful to the Lord and just prayed just about the people we have met. That was when the Lord finally told me to get ready for the World Race and to expect to go soon… Soon after in August, he showed me which route to go on and I decided to apply.
Well now I’m here, writing this and I’m getting really excited to go to 13 Nations to make His kingdom greater!
Check out my blog and follow me if you want to, I’d love to hear your comments!
Love from Germany,
Anouk
