If I have learned anything this month it’s that it really is a small world after all. Especially when referring to the community of believers in Bosnia. In my last blog I told you about our fantastic friends the Summay’s. Well good people know good people and they put us in contact with another fantastic ministry a few towns away. One thing that has baffled me so much this month is how welcoming people have been. They don’t know us from Adam and before we know it they have opened their hearts and homes and kitchens to us. Our experience with Lisa was no different.
We arrived in the morning and she had already planned out the two days that we would spend with them. It included meals with each of the people in the ministry, a church service, and a movie night with the youth. The night we had dinner with Lisa and her husband we got to hear a little bit of their testimony and how God brought them to Bosnia. Lisa’s story of how God transformed her heart and mindset before and while she was on the field literally brought me to tears. The way she spoke about how the Lord transformed long term missions from something she was willing to do into something she was excited to do impacted me deeply.
They both had story after story of Gods faithfulness to their ministry. Which is incredible by the way. Their sending organizations policy is basically to find out what your gifting and talents are and then they find a way to reach people through it. They do everything from teaching English, to art, to outdoor adventure camps, to agriculture, and so much more. We were only with them for a little over 48 hours but they welcomed us so warmly. Even as we were getting on our bus to leave Lisa kept saying how she’d be praying for us and the rest of our journey and to keep her posted to that she could pray more specifically.
We have met so many beautiful and amazing people this month and each of them has been a gift to spend time with. I didn’t think my life could be so changed by spending such short amounts of time with people but it truly has.
