These past few weeks have been a whirlwind. I have been to Singapore, South Korea (both layovers), Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, and am currently in Kampong Cham Cambodia. I have learned how to summon a tuk tuk, brushed up on my bargaining skills, eaten amazing food, and experienced more rain in 3 weeks than I have in 3 years (if you didn’t know, CA is in a drought). So far in Kampong Cham we have started ministry that we will be doing for the next few weeks! We are building a concrete fence for an English school and we are teaching English in the international schools around the villages. There is one boy in my English class that is so smart, and wants to be a doctor one day. He knows Mandarin and English already and next year he is starting to learn French! He’s about 16 and comes from a very poor family. He wants to learn and improve and it’s beautiful. His older brother comes to our church in Kampong Cham so I’m inviting this boy to come on Sunday with his brother! On our way anywhere, whether it is to the gas station that has wifi, class, or to build the fence, all of the kids on the side of the street wave and yell “Heloooooo!!” with the biggest smile. We all chorus back with a “hello!!” accompanied by a wave and a smile… Our host family cooks us amazing food, so we are very excited about that as well. Many new fruits are being added to my list of favorites, (such as mangosteens, brown egg fruit, and of course passion fruit!! Today was the first day of a funeral in the village. I know because they blast Buddhist chants all day and night for about 3 days.. thankfully my house is a little farther away, but for some houses closer to the music the roofs rattle because of the volume. I just pop in my James bay or jack Johnson music and fall asleep to sweet memories of home that come when I listen to those songs. God is working in big ways in this town, many Cambodians I have talked to are praying for all people in their country to know Christ as their God and Savior. It’s 87 degrees with an 87% humidity to give you a feel of how hot it is! My team of 6 and I are sleeping on mattresses with a big bug net.. kind of like a fort, it’s super fun! Our house is in the middle of a huge sugarcane field, and it rains all the time, I know I already said that it’s just super exciting because I love rain. I haven’t pulled my camera out yet, but hopefully I’ll have some good pictures soon that accurately represent life here. Please pray for the people of Cambodia to come to know The Lord personally, and for my team to be actively used by Him to spread God’s love. Over and out from the TeleMart Gas Station on the corner.
