I’m driving through the vast deserts, massive mountains and evaporated lakes in California (we are in a drought) to go camping with some friends. We are listening to needtobreathe and I can’t help but stare in awe of the creation God made for us to take care of. Looking at the looming mountains and deep valleys I can only think that we are so small and insignificant.. It feels like that doesn’t it? But no. Our Father treasures us more than the gold found in California back in the 1800s. He intentionally made every little quirk and unique niche in us and He did this for a reason. Every thing in us we think of as a flaw was purposefully and beautifully placed on and in our bodies by our Creator. (For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.– Psalm 139) Why don’t we love ourselves as much as we should? Because the evil one lies to us and tells us that our quirks are weird and annoying. He tells us our “imperfections” are imperfect and that makes us insecure. Our securities are not found in the lies of the world. Our security and self- worth is found in the only place we know is 100% truth. The Word.
You are all together beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you. (Song of Solomon 4:7)
Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. (Luke 12:7)
Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. (Hebrews 10:35)
