Salamat means thank you in Tagalog.
Salamat to the women who work at Street Light. For all you have done and continue to do for the kids of Divosoria, Salamat. For listening to the call of the Lord and leaving everything that is comfortable to live in the Philippines. I was so blessed by all the women (and Aaron) that we worked with this month. You are doing a great thing and I was happy to be a part of it for the two weeks we were there.
Salamat to the kids of the Philippines for letting me love you. I truly will never forget you or your faces. Daniella, you are going to grow up into a beautiful woman and I know that you will one day know that about yourself, even if you don’t know it now. June June, you are going to be a man who brings joy to others but not your joy, but the joy of the Lord. Ricky, your servant’s heart is going be used in mighty ways for the Kingdom of God. Winlove, your sweet smile and soft spoken nature is going to be used to comfort your people. JR your hugs are going to make someone feel so loved when they are down and feel hopeless. Tomeo, you are going to make people feel so cared for and work with a kind heart. Angie, your quiet spirit that’s so strong. Mary Ann, your sweet innocence. Oh my sweet babies that I miss.
Salamat to Ate Evangeline and Ate Mila for cooking for us breakfast and lunch every day. Food that nourished our bodies and company that nourished the soul. For loving us so much and telling me that I was beautiful. The Lord used you even if you don’t know him. I pray he finds you and shows you how wonderful and beautiful YOU are Ate. I love you and miss you for always.
Salamat to Cuya Adbul, Cuya Carling, and Cuya Diegle for taking care of the 7 unprepared Americans at the shipping container we lived at. For keeping us safe from danger, for building us a bathroom in two days, for providing us shade and fixing the things we attempted to do but failed. For serving the street kids by working hard to build that wall 7 days a week from sun up to sun down.
Salamat to Jess for being an incredible team leader whether it was getting our needs taken care of or driving like a native Filipino. Salamat to Dani for keeping up with our insane finances. Salamat to Isaac for giving me a great piece of constructive feedback that changed my month. Salamat to Lydia for listening to the spirit and encouraging the team to as well. Salamat to Kelsey for always listening and offering the wise advice of a friend. Salamat to Josh for helping us maintain our focus for the race, especially as we prepared to leave month one. Salamat to Team Adopted for experiencing container life with me. There literally is no one else in the world I could have imagined doing that with.
Salamat to all my new friends. I will never forget the brief but wonderful 20 days I had in the Philippines. My heart believes I’m not done there but we will see what the Lord says and Does.
Finishing up this week at debrief and then hopefully writing a blog about all that the Lord is doing in my heart. It has been an amazing 3 days in Thailand already. Look for another update SOON!
