One of my favourite parts in my month in Swaziland was going up to the baby house and being met by 15 little children. At the children’s home, there was a baby house for little children ages 1-5, a girl’s dorm for girls ages 6 and up and a boy’s dorm for boys ages 6 and up.

Every day the children at the baby house are taken care of by the aunties. They asked if 3 of us would help each day. We switched it off from doing various tasks(of husking maize by hand and painting) each week and I got to be with the infants for the last week. Since the very first day we arrived at El Sheddai those little children have been nothing but pure joy and love. Once they see us coming they run to see us and say “I want to go on yo shouuuldas.” It is so cute.

These children were not like children I’m used to. They would go outside and play by themselves, solving their own conflicts and co-operating with each other. They were very self-sufficient. BUT they loved when we came to see them. We felt so loved when they ran to us and I loved giving them all big hugs.

One thing I noticed right away was one little boy’s legs. Calvin came to El Sheddai only half a year ago and he is 3 years old now. He started walking only this January (while most others who lived there started before they were a year old.) His legs are severely bowed and it always pained me when I saw him running. His feet are smaller than the one-year-old babies and he is about the same height as them also.

We decided that we would pray for him every time we saw him. I asked him if I could pray for him and he said “yes!” I prayed that God would heal his legs. We didn’t see anything change. I thought we had to do more. Daniel and I were leading the very last chapel service on Thursday and we were leaving on Saturday morning. I thought that we should all, including the children, pray for him and God would heal Calvin. This would teach the children that God can heal people using them!

We went to chapel and around 30 children came and we brought Calvin in to be prayed over. We all gathered around him and prayed that his legs would be healed.  I really believed that we would see a miracle that evening.  When we were finished, we looked down at his legs…and they were the same.

This is Calvin!

I still believe that God will heal his legs, but it will be in God’s timing. His legs are bowed because of vitamin deficiency and now that he is at El Sheddai he is getting proper nutrition. His legs should straighten with time. God brought him to El Sheddai and that is a miracle in itself.

Our contact told us about many of the children who were almost dead coming to El Sheddai and now they are healthy. One little boy Joseph was given up on at the hospital and the Doctor said to take him home to die because he was not going to survive…now he is a healthy 4-year-old boy! Angelique came to El Sheddai without a heartbeat and now she is a healthy little 3-year-old girl! God saved these children and I am so thankful for that.

I know He will heal Calvin and Calvin will grow up to be a runner without any problems!

There are so many miracle stories of the children at El Sheddai. Only 3 children are HIV positive now at El Sheddai!  God is amazing!!

Please pray for these children.
