On the 31st of January our teams left the orphanage and began our week-long
trek to Nepal (pronouced Naypaul)! We
found out on the 31st what our ministry was for this month. We found out that we were going to be working
in Southern Nepal at a fish farm 🙂
Our work would be cleaning out one of the 9 fish ponds and moving the fish
from one to another. I was pretty
excited because it was just so odd. This
fish farm exists to fund an organization here with an English school, an
orphanage and a discipleship program.
then up the mountain to Kathmandu, Nepal! Our transportation was by bus, plane, train and then bus again. It took a few days with breaks in
between…the train itself was 15 hours!
go to another place an hour away to work at an English School to help with the
younger children, painting, and perhaps building a roof! We are currently 20km from the India border
(the south part of Nepal). We have
already cleared the sides of an emptied pond and started to dig and remove the
clay rocks from the bottom of the pond. We have to carry to rocks up the side of the pond and dump at the
top. It is hard labour! By day two my hands were really hurting. Today we cleared around the little fish tanks
where they will have one mother fish in each who have like a million eggs. We might be able to see when these fish come
in a few days!
It is hard to understand how God is going to use this work. We feel like we are not really interacting
with many people except our contacts here and a few labourers. However, I do know that God can use
everything. This help with jumpstart
this area of this Nepal ministry called GEMS!
Our team is by ourselves this month! It is nice to get to know my team better and really build strong
relationships with them. We are living
in one room, we work together, we cook together, we eat together and we figure
everything out together! I think this is
what the church is actually supposed to look like…we have all shared
struggles in our lives even though they aren’t always pretty. I’m not one to open up, but since I have, I
feel so much closer to the team and more honest with God. It is amazing how perfectly God brought this
team together!
Thank you God!
month the food was cooked for us so we weren’t in the kitchen very much! It is fun to see what we can cook with the
supplies that we get around here! The
vegetables are really cheap, eggs give us protein and rice is a staple! We have had some super awesome meals! The boys came back from the market yesterday
with a surprise of GARLIC! So exciting J

bikes aren’t like the ones I grew up riding…but it’s I enjoy it! It’s like mountain biking on these roads
while trying not to run into anything or anyone!
Please pray that our team continues to build each other up and that we
continue to do this work with a positive attitude while praising God! God is good all the time, even at the bottom
of a fish pond!

hills and plains) to where we are now!
