This month, we have been working with Siloam Baptist Church in Mansa, Zambia, and it has been a crazy month so far. We have been keeping busy with tons of different ministry opportunities including door-to-door evangelism, leading Bible studies, teaching Sunday school, and hospital ministry. But in between ministry, we have just been living life in Zambia, and let me tell yah…life in Zambia can get pretty weird (but in the best way). 🙂

Here are 11 things that have made me say “life is weird” this month:

1. When there was a chicken on my bed.

2. When I watched that same chicken get its head cut off the next day and then ate it for dinner.

3. When I watched Telemundo while eating breakfast. (Spanish soap operas in Africa? Makes total sense.)

4. When one of my teammates got cornrows while holding a baby chicken.

5. When a cockroach ran over me in the middle of the night, so I decided to set up my tent on top of my mattress on the floor at 12:30 a.m.

6. When we drove 20 kilometers into a 1000 kilometer journey and stopped for four hours without even thinking to question it. Then when we finally asked why we were stopped, they said, “The bus is broken.” Oh, cool.

7. When my own hair started terrifying me at night because I think it’s a cockroach every time.

8. When I had to pee in the shower room in the middle of the night because I couldn’t get out to the outhouse.

9. When I brushed my teeth in the sink at the mall in Lusaka, and for some reason it made me feel normal.

10. When I have pictures taken of me everywhere I go, crowds of children following me all the time, and a recording of my team singing is more than one person in Africa’s ringtone.

11. When the chickens sleeping in the kitchen decided to make a huge racket while I tried to write a blog.

Bonus! #12…when I realized that most of my life somehow revolves around chickens.

Financial update! Thanks to everyone’s support, I have been so blessed to be able to do three and a half incredible months of ministry so far. However, I still need to raise about $4000 by January 1st in order to be fully funded. If you would like to keep my life weird, please consider making a tax-deductible donation by clicking anywhere that says “Support Me!’

Thank you!
